i’ve handed in copyedits for Secret Villain Book

i’ve handed in copyedits for Secret Villain Book, so it’s inching closer and closer to becoming a real book that i can’t wait to announce! i’m still on deadline as I work on the sequel for A TEMPEST OF TEA (i’ll reveal the title at some point! maybe!) so it’ll be quieter here than usual, but i thought i’d drop a quick hello ✨

also, how cool is this hand painted teapot?! not pictured are the many many notes that were stuffed inside, a gift from a group of amazing teens at the Tucson Festival of Books after we recorded a fun podcast together! I don’t think I ever told you guys this, but Tucson was great fun! 🫖

I’ve been seeing a lot of new faces around here, and i think an introduction is in order!

hi! i’m hafsah faizal, blogger turned designer turned author. and here are three random things that I like: cat cuddles, video games, and potatoes.

i hopped on here about a decade ago, while living in texas with my family (and my two utterly incredible sisters). it was a long journey, from hyping up books and learning code to writing a book and landing an agent several manuscripts later. many of you have followed along over the years, and that makes me so happy! i still can’t believe my debut, WE HUNT THE FLAME, a book about a huntress in a world inspired by ancient Arabia and the prince sent to kill her, released nearly five (5!) years ago, and that it’s still finding its home in hearts today ⚔️

because of that book, after reaching the belief that it was impossible, i found my best friend and love of my life, @cayskiii, married him during a whirlwind of a time and can never be grateful enough. i know we say the best men are written by women, but no writing can come close to the spectacular man that he is. truly 🥰

anyway! let’s continue on the timeline before i get too sappy!

since then, we moved to the east coast, got our tuxedo cat a little sister, and finally, after many, many delays, my new book, A TEMPEST OF TEA was unleashed upon the world. it’s been a little over three weeks, and I’m still in awe of how you all accepted this book. not only did we have an amazing tour, but TEMPEST also topped the NYT and indie bestselling lists at #1 (and then stayed on both lists ever since!) and continues to make waves in more ways than one.

so thank you, and welcome. i hope you enjoy your stay—and my books 🫶🏼

last week was a whirlwind of emails and number 1’s and in all the excitement, I didn’t get a chance to tell you that A TEMPEST OF TEA was the lead bestselling young adult title in all of the UK! i’m beyond ecstatic! you all have accepted arthie and the crew with open arms and matched her anger with enthusiasm, and i could not be more thrilled 🫶🏼🫖

and while I don’t know of any plans to tour the UK just yet, I will take this moment to tell you that I’ll be at the Tucson Festival of Books this weekend! with a panel! a fun event! and a signing, of course! come see me ✨
